FutureSight Issue #1

Whatchu know 'bout me?

Hello, World

What is FutureSight? FutureSight is a weekly newsletter designed for small business owners, solo founders, and professionals who want to understand how artificial intelligence is shaping the way we work. Each issue shares the latest in AI, business trends, and practical examples you can actually use. We’re glad you’re here!

Why FutureSight? AI is moving fast, and it can be hard to keep up. FutureSight helps you stay informed without needing to be a tech expert. We focus on what’s useful, what’s changing, and how to take advantage of it.

What’s in this issue?

  • The case for a four day work week

  • What AI knows about you, and how to make it forget

  • A business you can build, scale, and sell using AI

  • Our recommendations for your day

Senator Bernie Sanders believes it's time for AI's productivity gains to benefit workers, not just executives.

In a recent conversation with Joe Rogan, Sanders proposed a 32-hour workweek. His argument is simple: if AI allows us to get more done in less time, employees should see the reward in the form of shorter workweeks and more personal time. "Let’s use technology to benefit workers," he said. "That means more time with your family, with your friends, for education, whatever you want to do."

The idea isn’t as radical as it might seem. In the United Kingdom, dozens of companies tested a four-day workweek in 2022. Most saw no drop in performance, and some reported slight revenue increases. Microsoft Japan tried it back in 2019 and saw productivity jump by 40 percent. Kickstarter has been operating on a four-day schedule since 2021.

The takeaway is clear. AI should make work more manageable, not make workers disposable. It’s not about doing more. It’s about working smarter—and having time left for life.

Remember that time you asked ChatGPT to help craft that risky text to your crush a couple months ago? Yeah, so does ChatGPT.

Many users are surprised to find out that ChatGPT is storing a lot of personal information about them, and in some cases, information they’d rather it not know. This memory feature allows ChatGPT to carry “memories” of you across all of your conversations without needing to supply that info each time you enter a new prompt.

While that memory is extremely useful in creating a personalized experience and more tailored responses, it can also lead to a jump scare when ChatGPT recalls a past health concern or your child’s middle name.

What can you do about it?

  • You can see what it knows by asking: What do you know about me?”

  • To manage or delete this info, go to Settings > Personalization > Manage memories. You can edit or delete individual facts, or wipe them all.

  • Just asking it to forget something in chat doesn’t always work—use the settings.

  • To avoid storing info, use temporary chats so nothing is saved or added to memory.

BTW, they’re going to respond. Just give it a few more months.

Business Idea of the Day

Summary: With the right tools, you can build this app within a couple hours for under $100 in total. The variable costs (hosting, storage, API, and transactions fees) will likely start to increase as you scale, but this means you’re bringing on new customers!

  1. Build the app: If you're a non-technical person, use Replit, Loveable, or Bolt to build the foundation of your app. Each of these IDEs (integrated development environments) can help generate your app for you, and they all offer free versions you can use to test the initial output. With just a few sentences and a clear prompt, you can vibe-code this product into existence.
Tip: Ask your favorite LLM (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) to generate a fully fleshed-out prompt that you can feed into your IDE so it knows exactly what you want to build.

  2. Nail it and Scale it: Find a small group to test every feature, button, workflow, and function you want the app to perform. As you discover bugs or issues, return to your IDE and continue refining the product until it's ready for production.

  3. Distribution: Now it’s time to get your product in front of your target audience. We live in an age where anyone can quickly build and scale amazing products. Identify the ideal customer for your app and replicate the process again and again.
